This is me trying to be the best version of me I can be.

So I suppose I have been steadily working on this for a while. The goal was to lose some body fat and gain some muscle. No real figures just see what I could do.

Working on losing fat and gaining muscle, I never went to any extremes, I didn't cut out any foods and didn't eat ridiculously low calories but I did keep an eye on what I was doing most of the time. “

“Before moving to Longford in 2018, I’ve been into my fitness and weight training in Sligo. Sean Flannery was highly recommended to me by a friend in Sligo, I called Sean wondering if he would be my new PT! Without any hesitation Sean met me for coffee and chat! Moving on since then, Sean has consistently trained me 3 times a week except in CoVid lockdown/restrictions!

His knowledge of weights, cardio and nutrition is profound and very professional ! Sean has me at a level of training that I could never have imagined in my life! I’m now deadlifting over 200kg and my RDLs at approximately 160kg, not only my deadlifts and RDLs but he is so consistent with upper/lower body, legs and cardiovascular!

Apart from training, Sean is a great friend who is very sincere and confidential. He develops a real passion for what he coaches, believes in and passes this on to his clients. I’m so happy to be at this level of weight strengthening and overall training/fitness at an age of 62 this July!

I sincerely thank Sean for giving me the opportunity to be at this fantastic level of fitness and I honestly feel great with lots of energy, and I look forward to my next level of weight training and fitness with this brilliant Personal Trainer called “Flan” but Sean who has developed personal training with a professionalism that I’ve not witnessed before!”

“In August this year after seeing the amazing results my husband Gerry got training with Sean I decided to bite the bullet and contacted Sean.  

I'm 56 year old woman, menopausal and with injuries and didn't really think Sean could help me but was I wrong. We meet and immediately put me at ease with his lovely manner. 

He went through everything food, sleep mine set and came up with a programme to suit me. Was going great than lockdown. “Since November of 2018 I slowly lost control over my food intake. I had a terrible relationship with food where I just dieted and binged every week. It's something I always had an issue with since I started trying to change my body. This was the heaviest and biggest I ever been in my life but at the time my perception of myself was "it's not that bad". Only now, after I lost some of the weight I can actually see how serious the situation was. •

I never stopped going to the gym, but unfortunately you cannot out work a terrible diet. It got to the point where I was lying in bed and gasping for air. I tried to work on my cardio but I couldn't, due to the huge weight gain my joints weren't capable of supporting my body and it hurt just to jog. It was embarrassing. •

I forced my self to make a change. I counted my calories and made sure I was in around a 500 calories deficit daily. I trained hard 4 times a week (upper/lower split). HOWEVER I did also enjoy myself, I went out for dinners, drinks, had dessert etc. I didn't kill myself over these things, just moved on. I trained a little harder and made sure I had about 1200cals left in the day when I knew I would be indulging that evening, just to control the food intake. Now in going to take a break for the next 4 weeks and go again until I'm happy with the way I look.”

Siobhan is now in a solid weekly routine, is being consistent with it and has a better more rounded understanding of her overall nutrition.

Big thing I learned was consistency over perfection, and to not cut out foods I liked but instead I learned how to adjust my diet, what macros and calories were in particular foods and how I could still eat what I wanted.

"I first got to know Sean through us working together.Knowing that he was in the fitness business I was kind of plaguing him with questions on on a daily basis about certain exercises and proper techniques. I had the poor lads head wrecked.His passion in answering these questions was unreal and the research he put into finding answers to certain problems I had was excellent.This prompted me to try one of his eight week programmes. My problem with programmes is that I have no issues with putting in the time and effort my down fall is the nutrition aspect of it all which always resulted in me seeing less then impressive results.

Sean simplified the diet aspect of this for me in layman's terms with no big words or any of that jazz that would usually turn me off the diet end of programmes. What I wanted to achieve with Sean was improvement in muscle definition and a more leaner look while improving over all general fitness. What I achieved with Seans help was far more than this and far more then I could have ever expected .Using new exercises and new techniques my overall strength and fitness improved so much in a short space of time that I was able to perform exercises I would never have attempted on my own or would have had the confidence to do.

Each workout Sean plans is tailored to you, so you can achieve exactly what you have discussed. “So to start off I just want to thank Sean for what he has done for me over the past five months not just as a PT but I’ve also gained a friend! It all started off a few months back when i took the picture in the white t-shirt and i noticed the belly and the full face wasn’t idea lets say that much! Then i said i wanted to join a gym but the anxiety kills me! So thats when i got in contact with Sean and as the saying goes the rest is history don’t get me wrong the intro to the gym was daunting but Sean couldn’t have been more helpful and accommodating!

The first few weeks were hard getting rid of the bad habits and getting into a routine! But we kept ticking over! Then the gym sessions were great cause they were accommodating towards my goals which was weight loss and toning up! The first month went by and i was down about 8lbs, then the plan changed up to be a bit stricter and within 2 weeks another 7lbs down! Again and again pushing myself harder both in the gym and by myself kept going no matter what cause if there was something not suiting me i would tell Sean and we would work our way around it! And finally after a few months of hard work and starting off at 17st (2lbs) i’m finally down to 15st (4.5lbs).

Nearly 2 stone gone and we will keep going!! I cant thank Sean enough and anyone that is having doubts about a PT please don’t and go with your gut and get on to Sean trust me!

Since I stopped playing football many years ago I did not take that much interest in my own personal exercise and health but Flan really helped me by putting a program in place I could adhere to. In this phase we focused on muscle building and building endurance for GAA. This was vitally important for James as he wanted to take his performance on the pitch to the next level and feel strong in his body going into a new season. We managed to up weight, build some mass and still keep a very strong aerobic base.
